Donna Bianca Ring 18K Gold Plated - Cleopatra's Bling
This golden ring with a wide, embellished band carries a carved resin piece at its centre, etched with clasped hands and the word amore.
The hands bound at the centre of the stone signify the love shared between two people. The ring takes its name from the White Lady, or Donna Bianca of 13th Century Tuscany. As a beautiful young woman she had many paramours, and her father wished to choose strategically among them for her marriage to strengthen political alliances. However, she herself was in love with the young Umberto. Although their love was prevented by their families, they never stopped longing for each other. In the region she is a fabled ghost in a white gown who protects lovers from their enemies, sometimes appearing at castle windows.
